Perfection Doesn’t Exist

I have this habit of over thinking things, over planning, and then getting stalled because I’ve overwhelmed myself with so much to do to get the perfect results. It’s something I’ve done my entire life, even now.

Earlier today while reading about the best way to re-finish the keel I ran across a post. A simple small paragraph of a post that said in a much more elegant fashion “You will never get a perfect result. You have 2 options, spend your time striving for the perfect job, or do a good enough job and spend your time sailing.”

I didn’t think to see who posted this advice, not that it really matters… What does matter is that this struck a chord, I need to stop trying to plan and execute a perfect job, I need to do a good job, one that will get my boat back in the water and sailing.

So, fingers crossed the weather co-operates tonight and the Thunderstorm watch amounts to nothing, and I can get the other side of the keel prepped and painted this weekend.
