Due to some issues the previous owner of Miss Megan was unable to clean the hull in the fall.
As you can see the hull had some caked on Alge, and I do mean caked on. No amount of scrubbing was going to remove this stuff, believe me I tried, it didn’t even dent the stuff.
The previous owner had used something called Oxalic acid, a half-used container was included in the sale. I read up on Oxalic acid and while it does clean the hull it cleans everything off. So, not only are you removing the gunge but also the hull wax.
I wasn’t super keen on re-waxing the hull as the it was getting about mid-season here, so I didn’t want to waste any more time, so I went looking for an alternative. At my local sailing store, I was told about this cleaner called Power One, they promised it would effortlessly remove the Alge gunk.
They weren’t kidding, I sprayed it on and moved down the boat a bit spraying more. The directions say to spray, wait 30-60 seconds and then rinse with water. After spraying a bit more of the hull I went back to look at where I started and the gunk was gone, in less than a minute it went from unescapable gunk to clean hull. There were clean streaks down the hull where the cleaner had run down.

When it’s time to clean your hull, get this stuff, it’s worth every penny!
